Shipping in the summer is always a challenge for a meltable product. This year there's an added layer: an oil crisis that has increased shipping costs dramatically. Our $50 minimum to unlock free shipping is no longer sustainable, and our usual $7–$8 Standard Shipping option isn't coming close to breakeven. (Remember when you could ship across the country for $4? Same, kinda, it's a distant memory now. Boo.)
Layer on THAT, carriers have been treating standard shipping somewhat carelessly lately, with packages sometimes taking 8–10 days instead of the promised 3–4. That's always annoying. In the summer, with a meltable product, it can actually ruin your order.
We know the heat is temporary. We hope the oil prices are too. So starting June 2nd through the end of August, here's what shipping will look like at checkout:
- No standard shipping (too slow, too unreliable in summer heat, it'll be back in the fall)
- Express Shipping - $15 (1–3 days)
- Summer Shipping - $25 (1–3 days + ice packs, thermal wrap, and insurance)
- Free Express Shipping on orders over $75
